YMCA of the Rockies’ Estes Park Center in Colorado

ESTES PARK CITY GUIDE – YMCA Of the Rockies:

Surrounded on three sides by the majestic peaks of nearby Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado’s YMCA of the Rockies’ Estes Park Center offers a place where families can spend time together in a fun and beautiful setting.

More than a century ago, the YMCA of the Rockies began as a place where men could spend a summer together and receive professional training in a tranquil and inspirational setting.  The center has since evolved into a place where families come for reunion and recreation.  Youth come for adventure and excitement.  Groups come for conference and rejuvenation.

The Y’s Estes Park Center sits on more than 800 acres and offers many lodging choices.  Two, three, and four-bedroom cabins (some with fireplaces) are ideal for families and afford the opportunity to cook meals.  For family reunions, there are larger facilities; one boasts 17 bedrooms to sleep 88 guests!  Hotel-type rooms are available in several lodges; cooking facilities are not available in lodge rooms, so meals must either be taken in the facility’s Aspen dining room (extra cost) or in the nearby town of Estes Park.

HINT:  Lodge rooms are often available at any time of the year.  However, during the peak summer and fall seasons, cabins book very quickly, on-line or by phone, as soon as the April reservation window opens .  For help with cabin reservations, open  the Y’s website (noted below), then click on Lodging and Secrets to Success: Make Your Cabin Reservation.

An abundance of activities—wildlife viewing, swimming pool, 18-hole miniature golf course, tennis courts, field games, museum, and various classes and hikes—have been included in the lodging fees.  Some of the fee-based activities include horseback riding, archery, rock wall climbing, zip lining, and a fully stocked arts and crafts center.

HINT:  Reservations are required for some activities; this will be noted in the activity guide.  Also, when planning outdoor activities such as zip line, archery and rock wall climbing, early in the day is the best choice.  Frequent afternoon thunder storms often force activity cancellations.

Voted in 2017 by USA Today readers as the #1 Best Family Resort in the United States, the YMCA of the Rockies’ Estes Park Center offers guests an unparalleled opportunity to enjoy the many activities offered or to simply admire the spectacular natural beauty that surrounds the place.

HINT:  If you think spending time at the Estes Park Center sounds enjoyable, take time to thoroughly acquaint yourself with the place via the Y’s informative website.  Activity and lodging guides will explain all the Y has to offer.   (There is another center—Snow Mountain Ranch—near the Colorado mountain community of Winter Park.)
