Explore Rushmore Cave – Cave Tours
The Scenic Cave Tour – our most popular tour
Journey through the cave on our exciting walking tour. Guided tours leave every 15 min. from the visitor center. The tour is approximately 1 hour in length. Some stooping in places for low ceilings & ability to climb stairs necessary. Walking shoes & light jacket recommended. No reservations required.
Adventure Tour – go spelunking!
Take an extreme caving adventure through tight crawls to remote areas of the cave. Some belly crawling is required, so be prepared to get dirty. Reservations needed.
In 1876, gold miners discovered the cave when a leaking flume seeped water into the hillside. An investigation of where the water disappeared to led to the discovery of the original cave opening.
