Product Review: minipro vent universal smart phone mount

A relative gifted me with the minipro vent (that’s its name, all lower case) universal Smart Phone mount.

I assume he got it from Fry’s Electronics, because it doesn’t seem to be available through Walmart.

There are plenty of dashboard mounts out there, but this one works for me.

It’s available from the Ventev website, at https://mobileaccessories.ventev.com/products/mounts/dashmounts/4369276__Ventev-minipro-vent-dashmount, where it costs $24. I checked Walmart to see how much it cost there – and found other “vent  mounts” for less than $10.

However, the minipro vent works for me, so I can recommend it.

I’ve clipped it into the vent using an alligator clip, and it seems secure. Rather than my smartphone, I’ve placed my Garmin GPS in it, and it holds it will even though it’s heavier than a smartphone.

Here’s what the holder looks like inside my car, in the passenger side air vent.

The Garmin is set up high enough so it’s easy to take quick glances at it while still paying attention to the road

Prior to acquiring this vent mount, I had left the Garmin sitting on the passenger side seat while I drove. I was able to listen to it with no problem, but of course couldn’t look at the map. With the Garmin now situated up by my air vent, conveniently within eyesight, it’s much better.

Even in those times when I don’t need directions, I can now have the Garmin GPS on so I can see my directions (north, south, east, west and points in between) while I drive, which will help me when I write articles where it is important to give directions to my readers.
