Thousands – many reports say millions – of people in the United States and around the world are gearing up for August 21, 2017. That’s the day that there’s going to be a total eclipse of the sun that will last for up to two minutes, on a certain path called the “path of totality” across the northern United States.
What states and cities are in the Path of Totality? You can check out general information about this once in a lifetime event at this website: www.greatamericaneclipse.com/.

The path of totality across the United States begins in Oregon, then continues through Idaho, Wyoming, and Nebraska (the three states that we cover!). It then continues on in a bit of an arc through Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
According to Eclipsekit’s facebook page (we’re not affiliated with them – I snagged these glasses from the Denver Astronomical Society at StarFest Denver 2017), 8.6 million people are expected to be funneling up I-25 to Glendo, Wyoming to see the eclipse.
Most people will be going to Casper – Wyoming In Motion will be sharing Casper’s eclipse events, but there are several other cities/towns along I-80 where the eclipse can be viewed as well.
Here are the cities/towns in the three states that we’re concerned with over which the Path of Totality will pass (and last for anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute and 30 seconds – not long at all!).
