The Meeteetse Museums will be hosting two events over the Labor Day weekend: the annual Chatelaine Quilt Guild Show (August 31 – September 3) and a September 3 signing of the new book The Wyoming Blizzard of 1949: Surviving the Storm by James Fuller. The signing runs from 10 am – 3 pm on Labor Day.
From August 31 through September 3, the museums will exhibit the quilts and wall-hangings of the Chatelaine Quilt Guild, a group of textile artists from the Bighorn Basin area. The group shows its works at Meeteetse each Labor Day. The textiles will be a mix of new creations and older works with sentimental value to their owners.
The Chatelaine Quilt Guild exhibits at various shows in the Bighorn Basin throughout the year and is a regular at Meeteetse’s Labor Day Celebration.

The signing will occur from 10 am until 3 pm in the Meeteetse Museums. Fuller’s book focuses on the people who survived a series of blizzards which hit Wyoming and other states from January through March of 1949. It was a momentous event that has not been forgotten. Fuller tells the stories of the people who experienced it. His interest in the subject began in 2015 when he was hired to research the Wyoming PBS documentary, Blizzard of ‘49.
