CFD 2017: The Concerts

Cheyenne is celebrating the 120th edition of the Cheyenne Frontier Days (CFD) this coming July, from Friday, July 21 through Sunday, 30 July 2017. (CFD is held during the last full week of July every year.)

In the evenings of Monday, July 24 and Tuesday, July 25, the Championship Bull Riding (CBR) World Finals will take place in the ampitheatre.

On the other days, outdoor evening concerts are held in the ampitheatre.

Here’s the schedule for 2017:

  • July 22 (Saturday): Little Big Town
  • July 23 (Sunday): Sawyer Brown
  • July 24 – 25 (Monday and Tuesday):  CBR World Finals

  • July 28 (Friday): Jason Derulo
  • July 29 (Saturday): Jason Aldean

July 21 (Friday): Brantley Gilbert

Brantley Gilbert hails from Jefferson, Georgia. He’s been singing since 2005. He’s released three albums to date: Halfway to Heaven, Just As I Am and The Devil Don’t Sleep.

As a song writer, he has written singles for Jason Aldean, “My Kinda Party” and “Dirt Road Anthem.”

Gilbert’s opening act is Tyler Farr.

July 22 (Saturday): Little Big Town

Little Big Town was founded in 1998 and the founding singers – Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook and Philip Sweet – continue to perform together today.

They’ve released eight albums to date, Little Big Town (2002), The Road to Here (2005), A Place to Land (2007), The Reason Why (2010), Tornado (2012), Pain Killer (2014), Wanderlust (2016) and The Breaker (2017).

Little Big Town’s opening act is David Nail.

July 23 (Sunday): Sawyer Brown

The country music band Sawyer Brown was founded in 1981. The group consists of Bobby Randall on guitar, Jim Scholten on bass guitar, Joe Smyth on drums, Gregg Hubbard on keyboards and Mark Miller as the lead vocalist. They named their band after the name of a road near where they initially practiced their sound.

They have released several studio albums – six in the 1980s, seven in the 1990s, and three in the 2000s – Can You Hear Me Now in 2002, Mission Temple Fireworks Stand in 2005, and Travelin’ Band in 2011.

Sawyer Brown’s opening act is Joe DIffie & The Bellamy Brothers.

July 24 – 25 (Monday and Tuesday):  CBR World Finals

July 26 (Wednesday): Luke Bryan

Luke Bryan, from Leesburg, GA  originally started his career as a songwriter before branching out as a vocalist.  He has released five albums, I’ll Stay Me in 2007, Doin’ My Thing in 2009, Tailgates & Tanlines in 2011, Crash My Party in 2013 and Kill the Lights in 2015.

Luke Bryan’s opening act is Chris Janson.

July 27 (Thursday): Thomas Rhett

Thomas Rhett was born in Nashville, TN. He is the son of country music singer Rhett Atkins. He’s released two albums to date, It Goes Like This in 2013 and Tangled Up in 2015.

Thomas Rhett’s opening act is Dan + Shay.

July 28 (Friday): Jason Derulo

Jason Derulo, born in Miramar, Florida, launched his solo music career in 2009, and has had 11 Platinum singles including “Wiggle,” “In My Head,” and “Whatcha Say.”

He’s released four albums – Jason Derulo (2010), Future History (2011), Tattoos (2013) and Everything is 4 (2015).

Jason Derulo’s opening act is Flo Rida.

July 29 (Saturday): Jason Aldean

Jason Aldean, born in Macon, Georgia. He sings country, country rock and R &B.

He has released seven studio albums to day: Jason Aldean (2005), Relentless (2007), Wide Open (2009), My Kinda Party (2010), Night Train (2012), Old Boots, New Dirt (2014) and They Don’t Know (2016).

Jason Aldean’s opening act is Casey Donahew.
